Arcady Editions is committed to publishing books pertaining to the field of American visual artists who worked in Italy from the second half of the eighteenth century through the opening decades of the twentieth century. The traditional fine arts are the primary topic of interest insomuch as painting, sculpture, drawing, and printmaking were the media in which the majority of American artists worked during this time. Photography also numbered a few American practitioners and was consonant with the studio and marketing practices of the majority of artists by the second half of the nineteenth century. While our emphasis is on American art, we seek to foster scholarship that promotes a broad understanding of the international nature of the major Italian arts centers during the period under consideration.
